VISION
This is suppose to bring vision to IBA. to fix it . the flaws in the system.
when someone feels things should be fixed , the first question would be what is wrong.the blog should be the starting point. The second question how should it be fixed, the blog will have that too. what needs to be done to fix it, to make it better.
or maybe one day someone might ask the students on what they think of IBA, and i hope by then we have a thriving community built around this blog. I’d want someone to tell them to visit this blog to get the feedback
the blog should belong to the students. they should be writing it.
Its like the media, that keeps a check on the institution.
it is a representation of IBA, so it should not have profanity on it. nor should it be politicized.
it’ll remain an independent observer of the students, the faculty, the administration and all the wrongs and rights.
students should be commenting on the blog. they should be visiting it. they should be contributing.
this is our university. if the administration doesnt have a vision. we do.
i know its a dream. but martin luther king also had a dream.
…
Update:
The dream has grown further. Someone was asking what was the next step for the blog. was i going to take it national? and i thought about it and well why not. So here’s a grander dream. Every university in pakistan should have a blog like critics. and the theme should be like such
name: http://critic[university name].wordpress.com
Vision: each blog should have a purpose. to further the cause of education. It should make the students more actively involved in the shaping of the institution. The students should tell what is good about the institute and whats wrong and how can it be fixed and how can we make it better and how can we make a true difference .
Contributors: The students. they should actively participate. the alumni
Format: the format can vary.
Why wordpress: i dont want this to be monetized. simple. The vision is noble and money will just corrupt it.
the competition is not between the universities of Pakistan but is with universities in the rest of the world. The competition is fierce outside. Very . and if we cant help fix our instituitions we wont survive. this is our war. this is our front.

I happened to come across the critics IBA website today, and appreciate the vision of the founders. I think the students, faculty and administration have to work together to improve the IBA.
As a starting point, I would like to suggest that we make a concentrated effort at improving the issues concerning our curriculum. An effort is already in progress to have a ‘reference’ course outline for every course. The objective being to improve the course contents and to reduce overlapping and redundant material. The reference course outlines are being compiled and will be made available online in the coming weeks. In the mean time I would appreciate all comments that address the issues in the existing curriculum (for all courses at IBA, either campus) so that the reference course outlines can be continuously improved. You are also welcome to e-mail these comments to me directly at sayeed.ghani@khi.iba.edu.pk.

Sir, we are honored by your presence here . We are also grateful that our small effort at such a huge task is appreciated. We sincerely want to make a difference in our institution and it would be a reason of great pride for us if we do manage to help our institution in some small way, give back a little as compared to so much that it has given us.
The blog will remain an unbiased source of information for those who will want to seek it.

why the word CRITIC?
why start with negativity, hostility?
why not a .wordpress.com or pkeducation.com ?
April 2, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Critic means a judge, an examiner. so its not hostile.
Critics are honest, most of the time.
Critics are respected for their opinion.
i agree it sounds a bit negative. but keeping the above three lines in mind, is it still negative?
April 2, 2008 at 4:10 pm
i dont think so. critics can be positive too. and everything on this blog is not negative..

@=) i agree…critics is stereotyped as -ve but it actually refers to close observation which can result in negative/positive feedback..so the name is good

even Webster defined critic as one given to harsh judgments. harsh is a negative word. so why fight with the dictionary?
April 3, 2008 at 8:42 pm
lol. i was using Cassell’s dictionary. Pick a less harsh dictionary
