Suspension is now named as Expulsion

March 20, 2008

Four suspensions or so called expulsions in the last week. both were appropriately explained in the notices.

the first one was from MBA 4, two students were expelled for taking pictures of a teacher . the one who took pictures for a year and the other one, whose cell it was for a week.

the second expulsion from BBA 2 sec 2, the CR and another student were expelled since they wanted to go to a concert and were tryin to shift the classes but when the teachers declined they misinformed the class. (according to the notice board) i think this certain punishment was a bit severe.

and i still cant comprehend why the notice says Expulsion notice and not suspension notice.

Update: The concert was FESF child benefit concert and the new director has declined to reverse the decision, saying that the committee is senior and that the decision stands.

We as students still feel that the decision is harsh.

Withdrawal from course

March 11, 2008

Students can only have ten days after the second term exam to withdraw from the course, according to a notice on the notice board.

there should be an notice for the teachers as well to give the results within a week so that students can make up their mind. We still have yet to receive results concerning the first term for a subject.

Holiday in respect of Pinky…

October 17, 2007

SCENE 1:

Question: Will IBA be closed tomorrow?

Morning answer: Why?

Question guy: well… because Benazir Bhutto is coming to Karachi and she’ll be addressing tomorrow. So the whole city will be paralyzed. How do you expect us to come?

Morning answer: We don’t know. But until we get a notice that says otherwise IBA is open and you’ll have to come to attend classes or you can avail your absences.

SCENE 2:

Question: Will IBA be closed tomorrow?

Late Morning Notice: (again to the best of my recollection) in view of traffic conditions of the city tomorrow the class timings has been changed accordingly

[a table with Ramzan timings on it for Main and City Campus. Classes ending around 1:10 pm]

(no information about evening classes)

Question raised: What about evening classes?

Late Morning answer: The notice doesn’t say anything about the evening classes. You should ask the evening office.

SCENE 3:

Question: Will evening classes be held tomorrow?

Evening answer: Evening classes will be held as per schedule.

Question guy (sarcastically): so if we want to participate in the address by Mohtarma we can’t.

Evening answer: Use your absences if you feel you can’t make it.

SCENE 4:

Message Screen of students

” IBA is off toms. It’s official. Spread the word”

now, this is like what happens every time. they keep denying loudly that there is a holiday and finally towards the end of the day they meekly say yes , IBA is off tomorrow. So why did they not tell it in the first place, well… cause they like making a drama of five scenes out of everything

EID HOLIDAYS

October 9, 2007

So here comes the much sought after holidays.

They first said that the holidays would be Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

I mean who would give a holiday on twenty ninth ramazan for eid(yes, i can find lamest of reasons to criticize at times :P ). Anyways the govt announced different holidays which are Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. so now we see a very rare occurance that IBA goes back on an already issued notice and says that they are also shifting the holidays from 12-15th October 2007 to 13-16th October 2007.

all in all. happy Eid holidays to all.

:)

She has a habit of going on such leaves. last year she went on such a leave and didnt come back for the semester. The unfortunate class that she was teaching were without a corporate law teacher for quite sometime. No action was taken against her, instead she was reinstated as a teacher when she came back.

OF RIGHTS AND LEFTS, FREEDOM AND EXPRESSION

September 18, 2007

“students (read boys) are reminded that round collar t-shirts which have inscriptions or any grafhic designs (read all but plain shirts) can not be worn in IBA. ”

And so we cant express what we feel. This is the clamp down on basic rights within the walls of IBA. Within a country, where constitutionally, every Pakistani has a right of expression there exists walls, where that right is snatched away. So we have a lot of boys being told that they cant wear round neck t-shirts that have anything written on them, be it a number, a brand name, or just a thought expressed on the shirt. You just can’t wear it. Is it just me, or do Pakistanis have a new fervor of making people take off their clothes?

Oh, and apparently this rule doesn’t apply to girls.

 p.s. : notice the spelling?
