Two Holidays

Well, the public announcement regarding the two holidays is pretty baffling to me. If you look at it from a broader perspective it really screws up the whole time table before the hourlies. Although holidays are a welcome retreat from the schedule we entail but they do have the baggage of extra classes and with the construction taking place, the lack of rooms and all it pretty much makes it all hassle some for both the office staff and the students. Am sure teachers are rushing to cover up on the required classes before the second term exam whose schedule was announced like a week before the exam, which was surprisingly fast

Missing In Action – Projector

Guess whats missing . the projector. BBA 2 Section 2 is being thoroughly questioned by the student councilor regarding the missing projector. the whole class was standing outside the office of the student councilor and each student was being questioned individually.

The seminars for the semester are apparently cancelled because the projector went missing. 

Pepsi trying to move into IBA

well, guess who wants to come back into IBA. talks are underway . Pepsi used to dominate the IBA city campus till the counselling and networking society managed to get coke to hold a coke day and convert the campus to coke . i doubt pepsi would do anything like that but lets see. and there are talks of the canteen being moved upstairs and the current canteen being converted into a classroom

Renovation, Water Tank and Classes- Update

Well, they disturbed the classes ultimately.  They really should have delayed the renovation till summers, but guess thats when they would be in audit.

Anyways, saw the class being taken place in the prayers area, and the prayers area being shifted to the lawn in the middle. The prayers area’s name is the “Water Tank”. Seemed pretty weird that they would have to go through so much hassle in middle of the semester, disrupting classes and causing all sort of confusing.

The Research portal, Room 7 and UGL are the only functional class room in the executive block. Above the administrative wing, Lab 16 and the whole of CCS block is now flooded with students.

The executive side is off for Fridays and Saturdays and their normal classes have been stretched to 75 min to accommodate this.

The so called girls-common room / ladies prayer area

The cramped room in the hallway above the dean’s office hosts a lot of offices, the lab a washroom and a ladies prayer room. It also serves as the girls common room. its really small. it has a very messy and broken look to it. and during summers it gets pretty hot inside cause theres nothing but one fan inside. No air conditioner.

Given the number of females in IBA, i think it would be wise to cater to their needs.

The thing is when you study in IBA, you basically live here. you dont go home. you eat, sleep, drink, study here.

you spend more time in IBA than you do at your home. The least IBA could do is make life a little better for us.

new sports equipment

serious. we finally get some really nice equipment.  well done  haider!!

So we have this new sleek table tennis table, with a real net . and its blue in color.

and we have a foosball table too   and all this at the back of the library.

i see a foosball tournament coming up  .  finally something good’s a happening.

The city campus Canteen

the canteen got shifted from upstairs to down, apparently the standard also went down, the prices however were inversely proportional so we pay more for substandard menu and substandard food cooked under apparently unhygienic conditions.

according to the prospectus 2007 of IBA, the canteen has a capacity of 60 students and am pretty sure there are more than a hundred students there during the afternoon break.

IBA should really consider expanding the canteen and to actually call for tenders from better caterers to run the canteen.

and yea, they have the worst fries ever.

Things to do on campus

you know when you have screwed up timetables and lots of time and i mean lots of time in between the classes that you are taking, or while simply waiting for the ride back home. there are a lot of things you can do. the list is not in order of any importance, just as it comes to me. feel free to add to the list.

1. loiter around in the campus and do nothing, basically cause there is nothing to do
2. sit and stare from the car parking platform. (most preferred activity)
3. sit in the library and not read anything at all
4. sit in the lab and surf the net, given thats working.
5. play table tennis on the table with a wooden board as a net
6. play cricket in the back parking lot when there are no classes taking place in campus
7. play throw ball in the small basketball court during 4.00-5.30 cause thats when classes don’t take place
8. Play Ludo in the corridor between the canteen and the library
9. eat unhealthy food in the canteen
10. sit in the lawn in front of the directors office
11. order in food from outside
12. learn for the next quiz
13. get a room and watch a movie on the projector
14. read a good decent book
15. sleep anywhere

truths about life in IBA

1. lab tech guys will always be cheap
2. you’ll always be dumbfounded in front of your crush
3. the class will get canceled on the day that you come for that class only
4. you will be late for the 8.30 class
5. you will sleep in class
6. the assignment will always be done after midnight.
7. exam will have that very question you chose not to learn.
