Bits is using Chopaal! Great initiative. It’ll keep everyone in the loop. your challenge should be to get everyone to register for it asap. so from the poster being put up i would suggest the student council should go to every class just like they did in electioning and have everyone have themseleves register for Chopaal.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

August 2, 2008

Dr. Ishrat Hussain has an open door policy. you dont need to ask anyone before entering. though i do suggest you knock for the sake of being polite. If you have a problem regarding anything, at all. you can go and tell him. He’s there to help you.

For those who have seen the vision. and when i said that when one day someone might ask tell me whats wrong. well, might be a bit early to say it, but am pretty pretty sure of it that , that someone is the Director & Dean of IBA, Dr. Ishrat Hussain.

Change is flowing from top. Are you at the bottom to support it?

A joke

June 17, 2008

There’s a rumor that something like this happened. not sure. but seems funny.

Q. What did the Controller examination say when the new Director of IBA asked if he knew the total area of the institute of Business Administration

A. He said, ” I don’t know. My job is to provide consul to students. (or something along those lines)”

something happened after that but i doubt if the incident is true so i ll restrain :P but it could turn out to be a nice little joke

the correct answer is 80 acres. Its written in the prospectus.

Good Job Haider.  hope it turns out well

A sport Coach

June 15, 2008

Every world class university has coaches for various sports. In IBA all we have are student initiatives at creating the team, training it, maintaining it, getting the kits, getting enrolled in sports events and winning or losing it. IBA has really good sports superstars which can perform beyond people’s imagination given the right training. If the players could concentrate more on sharpening their playing skill rather than the management part of it. I agree we can also create sports managers out of it. Some might say that the sports society managers are ideal, but they dont really do much. The sports society managers for the past three years have come up with the sports gala mostly which has failed to generate interest as expected. The football tournament held was good. Night matches are always fun. and well there could be a foosball tournament pretty soon. but the point is although these events tend to get the general interest up and clash with the class timings are held during university hours. There is talent in IBA. i am sure we can have people for regatta or golf or tennis or squash. If we have talent why are we failing in polishing it. why create just simple business people when you can create multi-talented business people.

Mr. Danishmand used to say that sports is not necessary. we always disagreed with him. sports teaches you teamwork, teaches you leadership, teaches you how to come back from a defeat, teaches you persistence, teaches you how to develop strategies against competition on run-time. if its handled professionally.

My solution: Hire sports coaches. get people involved in Sports. be it rowing, golf, tennis, squash, cricket, football, foosball and help them. adjust attendences for them allow them to compete in international tournaments, represent both the country and the university when they can. We need to push people up. need to have people good in sports.

Design a sports complex or atleast a gym to get people into shape. Hire instructors, develop teams and let them win matches. and inform the students where IBA plays so students can be there to support the team.

what do you guys say?

Stupid Rules of IBA

May 27, 2008

well, every place has really really stupid rules. and well IBA’s no exception. so here are a few

1. no sitting on the cars of the faculty, they’ll break.

2. you cant have a make up exam even if you are close to dying, its a policy. (the new prospectus says that there wil be no make up examinations in any case, which i guess covers this)

3. you have to take the first internship IBA offers, even if it’s really really bad, or go find one yourself.

4. to do a bake sale, you need to have permission for the tent too.

5. you cant bring in the free newspaper in to the library. ( i am pretty sure the librarian made it up, so he doesnt have to clean up the extra newspapers)

Event Slaughter

April 14, 2008

the all hyped up event of bake sale for which the CWS society had been working so hard for the past few weeks was slaughtered. yes, it was very bloody yellow and green spilt on the floor. The remains (read chairs and tables) left carelessly from the previous night’s event caused a lot of problems to the affluent class (read us) while we were parking our cars. The yellow and green tent at the back also took up a lot of space ( the contractor’s container and his office dont occupy space and hence dont take up parking space ).

the students had booked stalls and had committed donations to the needy and were ready to start off a smashing bake sale with a lot of people dressed up too. but You-Know-Who was not very happy since there was not a lot of parking space, as in how can there not be enough parking space. So, there was a storm, or well an order, which was to take down the tent and all the preparations done for the bake sale regardless of the fact that it was being done for a good cause. i mean who, really who cares, whether the money from the bake sale was promised to some patient in need of it in ICU or for some kid’s education. Like we would rise above ourselves and do something for someone else. Anyways the tents were brought down and it looked like not like war, rather slaughter as Beowolf would say.

The golgapays were sold in the canteen, the brownies given off , Cake Alaska was shared. The students managed to scavange some sort of a bake sale after the slaughter, even though it was skimpily thronged in the small cafeteria. the charts were torn, the decorations were lying on the ground, the petals and flowers and leaves adorned the tarnished platform of City Campus rather than hands of fair maidens.

The storm lingers on. No further events would be held and no one should approach You-know-who regarding them. i wonder what he will do after reading this? ban events? impose martial Law? do something more unpredictable?

my point, the chairs and tables in the morning were wrongly left, but i dont think it was entirely the fault of the student bodies, the event was long and hectic so a little leeway could be granted. A stern warning should have done the job. But to take away an event which is the only event held in IBA which contributes to some form of charity by the students just seconds before its scheduled to start is inhumane, not only to those who spent hours and days preparing for it but to those who had hopes attached to the little, i mean very little that we had promised to contribute. Some people did manage to get money across to those whom they had promised. we dont break our word. we just dont.

[for those who arnt getting my twisted sarcasm, when i say we dont really care, i dont mean that we dont really care, its my twisted sarcasm which has taken a more twisted turn than usual]

Canteen Kahani

April 4, 2008

The canteen keeps giving us substandard overpriced food with almost no variety what so ever. A group of students got pissed and well reported it the matter to the Administrator Mr. Mobin Khalili, that the food is substandard , is cause of various digestive tract infections, and the canteen is also keeping fake goods and selling them under the real name (the case of Maaz juice being sold as Maaza) . Mr. Khalili took the matter into his own hands and personally reprimanded the canteen administration. He also asked the students to report if the quality of food still remains low and if they think the food is unhygienic.  meaning  you are supposed to show proof to him if you think the food is unhygienic.
