Yes, it was for the MBR course. It was a great initiative but honestly we did not take interest in conducting this because we were given two days to frame the questionnaire and collect at least 10 responses, given these time constraints the questionnaire does not cover alot of relevant questions and many were forced to fill the questionnaires themselves. I will get back to you on this topic again, when I will conduct this not for the sake of the course

Course Structuring

Student of different sections who study the same courses by different teachers are not on the same level. All students cant be same, nor teachers, but a standardization is required.
Course Structuring should be more reform. Each student whose studying a certain course should go through atleast the same 80-85 % of a standard course, rest could be left up to the teacher to add. Course revisions must take place every year. With teachers sitting with industry people and students who are interested in the course. Syllabus of different int’l business schools should also be reviewed and the committee should develop a syllabus within a week.

Teaching method

Rote learning is still important to some teachers. The concept of understanding and solving a problem needs to be ingrainded.
“Is Case Method Instruction Due for an Overhaul?” by Jim Heskett [http://hbswk.hbs.edu/item/6001.html] should be read. It has over 100 comments and can definitely benefit. “Decision briefs” as used in Columbia business school and management simulations are interesting and innovative methods of teaching and should be brought forward. Teachers should also have industry experience and if they don’t have atleast 5-10 sessions should be taught by a guest speaker. The teacher should develop a course outline with the person.

Infrastructure:

The university needs more labs, more computers, better classrooms, better library, better auditorium and a good enough canteen.

Examinations:

Each class gives a different exam. One class might give the same subject with a very easy paper the other class might give a hard one. A standard exam should be taken by all students in the same year, each teacher should not prepare a different set of paper. Each teacher can submit their paper based on 80% of the subject which is standardized for everyone. Then the controller can choose one paper blindly. And the rest of 20% would be class wise as taught by the teacher.

Absences:

Six absences need to be reviewed. I think my comments will be biased in this regard. But they certainly need to be reviewed. Students who don’t attend classes wont grasp the concept and will fail in exam, given the previous measures are enacted.

Teacher Course Pairing

Students need to be allowed to chose the teachers and the courses themselves. If 100 students want to take a course, let them. Assign one teacher as assistant and the other as head and let them teach together and Grade papers .

Gymnasium
